**Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and international travel restrictions, the Firestorm gym will not be offering an International travel team until further notice**
Every second year Okanagan Firestorm Cheerleading offers a travel team option for those athletes looking to expand their cheer experience by attending different international competitions. Athletes must be competitive members of Okanagan Firestorm Cheerleading to be eligible for the travel team and must attend tryouts held in August. The age division and level of the team is determined by the skills and athletes present at tryouts. The destination competition will vary depending on the season.
Our IJ1 team, Intensity, kicked off their international tour as they made the journey to Disney World in Orlando Florida to represent BC Interior's first ever team to compete at the UCA International All Star Championships.
Intensity faced off against 7 other teams in their division from Eastern Canada, United States of America, Columbia and Trinidad.
Those moments you will never forget! 2nd Place finish in their division at UCA, Hit Zero, a 96.98 score on Day 2, 94.22 overall finish and a Gold Bid from UCA to the US Finals for Las Vegas. Dreams do come true.
Intensity took on the challenge of a double header; competing in both The US Finals competition as well as the Jamz Nfinity Champions League West - End Of Season Championships. This marks the BC Interior's first ever team to compete in The US Finals!
This incredible team came home from Las Vegas the National Champions in their division from The US Finals Competition following a zero deduction run.
They also wrapped up the weekend as 1st Place Champions at the Jamz Nfinity Champions League End Of Season Championships following zero deduction runs on both days
The Intensity team’s US Finals championship run earned them a spot in the Champions Challenge. All the Championship videos from each division across 8 championship locations across the US were re-judged by the International Cheer Union and a single winner per division was awarded the Division Grand Champion.
On April 22, 2019, this 24-girl team watched live from the OK Firestorm gym as The US Finals Champions Challenge 2019 Division Grand Champions for International Junior Level title was awarded to their team!
This title is the first for a team from Canada. To say the Okanagan Firestorm Family is proud is an understatement! Placing in the top 3 at UCA or The US Finals is hard enough, let alone winning the Champions Challenge. Our goal is to hit zero which means a clean routine with zero deductions.
Okanagan Firestorm's 2019 Intensity would like to extend a Huge thank you to the community (Kelowna, Lake Country, West Kelowna, Peachland, and greater area) for supporting the fundraising efforts. Without the community's support during car washes, bottle drives, BBQ stands, and other activities, these trips would not have been possible without your support. Thank You!
